Target Audience

This course is aimed at supervisors of electrical, electronic or mechanical equipment repair workshops.

Selection Requirements

Competency in overhaul and repair of general low-voltage or extra-low voltage electrical/electronic equipment at AQF III level or equivalent. Examples include (but are not limited to):

  • UEENEEG160A Evaluate performance of LV electrical machines;
  • MEM15020C Perform verification/certification or in-service inspection.

Units of Competency covered

  • UEENEEM032A Overhaul and repair of explosion-protected equipment – flameproof
    enclosures
  • UEENEEM033A Overhaul and repair of explosion-protected equipment – gas atmospheres

Course Content

This course covers the management of overhauling and repairing explosion-protected equipment and the activities required of the responsible person. It addresses specific topics such as registration requirements for an approved workshop, competence of personnel, overhaul and repair requirements for each explosion protection type, fundamental knowledge on HA drawings, equipment marking and certification requirements, identifying the categories and level of work required, arranging for the overhaul/repair to be carried out, verifying compliance of overhauled/repaired equipment and fulfilling the necessary documentation and reporting obligation in alignment with the requirements of the relevant AS/NZ Standards.

This course does not provide competency for performing actual overhaul/repair work.

Assessment

MOXI’s courses contain in depth theory components. All practical aspects are delivered in our specialised EEHA workshop. When completed on site, participants are required to submit evidence of practical assessments and application of skills where access to plant and/or machinery is not available during the course.

Outcome

On successful completion learners will be awarded a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of the Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas – Electrical (UEE42611)
