Target Audience

This course is aimed at supervisors of electrical, electronic or mechanical equipment repair workshops.

Selection Requirements

Competency in overhaul and repair of general low-voltage or extra-low voltage electrical/electronic equipment at AQF III level or equivalent. Examples include (but are not limited to):

  • UEENEEG160A - Evaluate performance of LV electrical machines;
  • MEM15020C - Perform verification/certification or in-service inspection;
  • UEENEEM080A – Report on the integrity of explosion-protected equipment
  • UEENEEM020A – Attend to breakdowns in a hazardous area – gas atmospheres
  • UEENEEM022A – Attend to breakdowns in a hazardous area – pressurisation

Units of Competency covered

  • UEENEEM032A Overhaul and repair of explosion-protected equipment – flameproof enclosures
  • UEENEEM033A Overhaul and repair of explosion-protected equipment – gas atmospheres
  • UEENEEM034A Overhaul and repair of explosion-protected equipment – dust atmospheres 

Course Content

This course covers the explosion-protection aspects of overhauling and repairing explosion-protected
equipment at a craftsperson level. It equips the learner to identify and select authorized components,
follow repair specifications to overhaul/repair the equipment ensuring equipment protection and
complete repair documentation in alignment with the requirements of the relevant AS/NZ Standards.

Assessment

MOXI’s courses contain in depth theory components. All practical aspects are delivered in our specialised
EEHA workshop. When completed on site, participants are required to submit evidence of practical
assessments and application of skills where access to plant and/or machinery is not available during the
course. 

Outcome

On successful completion, learners will be awarded a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of
the Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas – Electrical (UEE42611).
